Higher order use of degraded plastic (Styrofoam) as insect repellent

Abstract

Waste plastics get mixed with different materials during production process or as they degrade over time. Therefore, waste plastics generally needs to be sorted and cleaned before they can be recycled. The team led by Mitsutake Suematsu of the Advanced Research Laboratory focus on this mixed state as value and are researching for value-added applications. They contributed an article to Plastics magazine published on October 10, 2023, to obtain feedback from various sectors of the industry.
